The 4th EuroMillions Superdraw of 2020 was followed by a rollover streak, who resulted in a record jackpot of €200 million. The EuroMillions draw of December 11th delivered this jaw-dropping prize to a French ticket holder. This was the 110th top prize won in the France, but that’s not all. Besides setting a new record and a new jackpot cap, the draw of December 11th 2020 marked another milestone since this is the 500th jackpot won across all participating countries since the EuroMillions lottery was launched back in 2004.

The entire prize was scooped by a single ticket holder in Castelo Blanco, Portugal. Graça Nunes, the owner of the shop said that this was the first-ever jackpot-winning ticket they had ever sold there. The EuroMillions syndicate wished to stay away from the lime light and they assigned a family representative to collect the prize. “This is unbelievable – it will take us some time to get our heads around this win and to organize ourselves”, he told the press. The Naul family wants to share their fortune with the entire family, but keep their lives as normal as possible after their big break.

The first EuroMillions draw was held on Friday 13th February 2004, with just France, Spain and the UK taking part. The game quickly grew in popularity, and in October 2004 Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland joined EuroMillions, bringing the total number of participating nations to nine. In May 2011, a Tuesday draw was added, and the Lucky Star ball pool increased from 9 to 11. In September 2016, an extra Lucky Star was added to the ball pool, increasing from 11 to 12.

The EuroMillions jackpot can reach a maximum of €210 million. The jackpot had previously reached its former cap of €190 million four times. In August 2012, British couple Adrian and Gillian Bayford became the first players to win this huge jackpot. In October 2014, a single ticket holder from Portugal also won €190 million, before a winner from Spain claimed the same amount in October 2017.

Between 23rd July and 24th September 2019 the EuroMillions jackpot rolled over all the way from its starting value of €17 million to the maximum €190 million. After four more rollovers without a winner, the jackpot was finally claimed by a single ticket holder from the UK. They became the biggest ever lottery winner in the UK.

The record jackpot of €200 million was won by a single player from France on 11th December 2020. Jackpot rules now mean that the cap increases to €210 million, meaning this record will be broken when the cap is next hit.
