On the same day as the widebody orders, a China Southern Airlines Boeing 777-200 took off from Guangzhou and landed in Taipei the following day, becoming the first mainland Chinese aircraft to land in the Republic of China since 1949, when the Kuomintang were involved in Chinese Civil War with the Communist Party of China. I flew for work to Wuhan China. China Southern, which is not part of Star Alliance, had a non-stop, and was cheap. China Southern currently operate more than 485 flights a day from its Guangzhou hub and 221 for its Beijing hub. The airline provides services to 65 international destinations. Most of the international flights link between Guangzhou and world cities.

Requirements
- A valid and current B737/B777 or B787 type rating
- Minimum 500 PIC hours on B777/B787, or
- Minimum 1,000 hours PIC on B737NG
- Must have flown as Commander on the above type within 6 months
- Minimum 2,000 hrs PIC on multi-crew, multi-engine commercial jet with MTOW > 50 tons
- Minimum 5,000 hours in total (turboprop and turbojet only)
- Age:
- With B777 or B787 rating, max age of 54
- With B737NG rating, max age of 50
- Valid ATPL from country with diplomatic relations with PRC.
- Valid First Class Medical
- Valid passport from country with diplomatic relations with PRC.
- No history of incidents or accidents
- No criminal record
- ICAO English Level 4 or above
